Bernard Moody, Co-Chief Investment Officer

Bernard joined Advance Emerging Capital in August 2006. He has 15 years’ experience of investing in emerging and frontier markets and currently focusses on Asia. Between 1999 and 2006 Bernard managed Asian and emerging market portfolios worth over $1billion at Sarasin Investment Management, predominantly invested through closed end funds. Two of the funds he was responsible for earned ‘A’ ratings from S&P Fund Research. Between 1997 and 1999 he worked in the Investment Management Research Unit at the actuarial consultants Bacon & Woodrow. Bernard graduated from University College Dublin with a BComm specialising in Banking and Finance before gaining an MSC in Finance from Queen’s University Belfast.

Andrew Lister, Co-Chief Investment Officer

Andrew joined Advance Emerging Capital in October 2000 and has 14 years’ experience investing in emerging and frontier markets. Since joining, he has been involved in all aspects of investment analysis and selection and portfolio management. His specific focus is on markets and investments in Africa and Latin America. Andrew graduated from the University of Exeter with a BA in Geography. He completed the Investment Management Certificate in 2001 and qualified as a technical analyst in 2005.

Viktor Broczko, Senior Investment Manager

Viktor joined Advance Emerging Capital in 2002. He has 12 years’ experience of investing in emerging and frontier markets. Since joining, he has been involved in all aspects of investment analysis and selection and portfolio management. Viktor’s focus is on Middle Eastern and Eastern European markets and investments. He holds a BA in Economics from Greenwich University and a MSC in Information Systems from the London School of Economics. He completed the Investment Management Certificate in 2003. Viktor is Hungarian by birth and is fluent in Hungarian, Russian, German and English.

Samir Shah, Senior Investment Manager

Samir joined Advance Emerging Capital in April 2011. Prior to this he was an investment funds analyst on the closed end fund team at Matrix Group. He covered the financial sector as a sell side analyst for over 10 years and was ranked by both Extel and Institutional Investor. He began his analytical career with Credit Suisse covering banks and diversified financials. Samir covers global emerging and frontier markets and investments. He is a qualified chartered accountant and CFA charter holder. Both qualifications were earned while working in the banking division of KPMG.
